Xin Xu, a PhD student in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) at KAIST, under the supervision of Prof. Sang Wan Lee, achieved two 1st-place awards and one 2nd-place award as a member of Team Watt at the MRIxFields2026 Challenge, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2026.
The challenge focused on developing advanced AI methods for brain MRI synthesis and harmonization across different magnetic field strengths. Team Watt's proposed method, “Unified Source-Conditioned Translation with Shared-Cycle Refinement for Any-to-Any Cross-Field Brain MRI,” enables brain MRI translation across five magnetic field strengths (0.1T–7T) using a single unified deep learning framework while preserving anatomical structures.
