The research project proposed by Hyeonseok Yoo, a graduate student in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences under the supervision of Professor Yeongjun Lee, has been selected for the National Research Foundation of Korea’s 2026 Master's Student Research Encouragement Program.
The selected project, entitled “Development of Simplified-Structure Stretchable All-Polymer LEDs and Fiber-Shaped Optoelectronic Devices for Neural Interface,” aims to develop stretchable optoelectronic devices capable of delivering stable optical stimulation while maintaining mechanical compatibility with biological tissues.
The study will develop simplified-structure stretchable all-polymer LEDs and fiber-shaped optoelectronic devices by engineering the work function and electrical and mechanical properties of conducting polymer-based electrodes. Ultimately, the research aims to extend these devices toward multichannel and implantable optical stimulation systems for optogenetic neural interfaces capable of precise optical stimulation and stable interaction with biological tissues.
